LA FIREHEARTS
Coming Together
RELIEF WITH HEART. ACTION WITH PURPOSE.
In the aftermath of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, Chris Jai Alex organized LA Firehearts—a live benefit created to bring the entertainment community together in service of the people directly affected.
The goal was simple: don’t just talk about helping—show up and help.
Hosted on February 22, 2025, at The Beehive, SoLa Impact’s South Los Angeles campus and community hub, LA Firehearts combined the energy of a live entertainment event with a practical, boots-on-the-ground approach to relief.
Families and individuals affected by the fires were welcomed into a space created to offer both immediate support and a much-needed moment to breathe. Guests received food, essential supplies, gift cards, complimentary haircuts and self-care services, while enjoying live music, comedy and performances from members of Los Angeles’ creative community.
For a few hours, the focus was not on what people had lost. It was on making sure they felt supported, cared for and surrounded by a city that had not forgotten them.
The benefit was also livestreamed, allowing people outside the venue to participate, contribute and support the cause in real time. It was part fundraiser, part community gathering and part reminder that entertainment can do more than provide an escape—it can bring people together when that connection is needed most.
LA Firehearts was produced in partnership with the Dakar Foundation, whose work creates education and career pathways for young people in underserved communities, and SoLa Impact, an organization focused on economic opportunity, housing and community investment throughout South Los Angeles.
Production support was led by Kevin Clarke and Heartbeat Studios, helping transform the benefit from an idea into a full day of service, performance and community.
Keep it Going…
LA Firehearts was never intended to be a one-day gesture or a temporary response to a moment in the news.
The event represented the beginning of a larger commitment: to use our relationships, resources and experience in entertainment to respond when our community needs us—and to create programs that offer tangible support long after the cameras leave.
The continuing vision for LA Firehearts is to build a network of artists, filmmakers, performers, businesses and community organizations that can mobilize around relief, outreach and direct service. That means continuing to raise funds, provide resources, create moments of reprieve and find practical ways for the entertainment industry to give back to the city that supports it.
We may not be able to solve every problem.
But we can feed someone.
We can replace something essential.
We can offer a service.
We can create a few hours of joy.
We can remind people that they are not facing the aftermath alone.
That is what it means to say:
“I’M A FIREHEART.”
It means leading with compassion—but following it with action.
